What is Metro Plus?

Metro Plus arranges transportation for people who are unable to use LANTA/Metro fixed route bus services due to lack of ability, or for those who need specialized service.

Metro plus is a door-to-door, shared ride service. No one passenger has exclusive use of the vehicle.

Metro plus arranges transportation for:

  • The "Shared Ride" transportation program. People are eligible if there is no Metro fixed route service nearby of if they have a physical disability. Though open to people of any age, those 65+ may ride for 15% of the actual fare (the remainder will be paid by the Pennsylvania Lottery).
  • People with a valid Medical Assistance ACCESS Card are eligible to use Metro Plus to go to M.A. reimbursable appointments (doctor, dialysis, etc.) if they meet the program requirements.
  • Metro Plus also arranges transportation for those physically disabled persons who are unable to board a LANTA/Metro bus within the urban area
  • Metro Plus provides service for the Lehigh and Northampton County Area Agencies on Aging. For information about these programs, you must call the agencies directly.
To find out whether or not you may be eligible,

Metro Plus works with a professional transportation provider Easton Coach, who will transport you in fully accessible, lift-equipped vans.

To use Metro Plus you must first register, and then be qualified with the Metro Plus office. Call 610-432-3200 or print the registration form from this website (see below) to obtain the necessary registration forms.

A photocopy of a proof of age document must be submitted with the application. Details are included with the application.

Once your completed application has been received and approved, you will be issued your Metro Plus Identification Card, which you must show to the driver each time you board a Metro Plus vehicle.
